Chapter 28- In the mind of Christian.

I don’t know what’s going on with Nimah and I lately but I think I’ve given her enough time.

I know she thinks there’s something going on with me, but I really cant handle these things. She’s treating me differently, and I don’t know what else to do but back away until she sees that I'm all for her.

I know being a man isn’t a good enough excuse but that’s all I got.

Today I'm going to go against my nature, I'm going to try to make things better. No-one else can and she has good reason why she thinks some of the things she does.

I strolled out of the main building, waving at some random girls that were calling me from across the lawn.

I don’t have a key to Nimah’s place, but I'm going to try to get in. Somehow.

I want to surprise her.

I put my hand into my pocket to take out my car keys as I turned the corner.

I heard some people talking rather loudly.

People? Behind here? In all my days I’ve never met anyone in this car park.

I picked up my pace in curiosity.

“Nathan , can you leave please? I'm trying to talk this girl.” I'm sure that’s Miranda’s voice.

Nathan?

What girl?

This corner seems to be continuously winding. I cant seem to get around it!

Finally, I turned the corner.

Nimah?

She noticed I was there and before I could get an idea of what was going on, she quickly walked over to me.

I put my arm around her shoulder, holding her tight.

“What's this?” I kissed her hair not taking my eyes off Nathan.

Nimah doesn’t know the story behind why I beat him up the other night, honestly I don’t want her to be stressing, or feeling strange around anyone.

“I think she can handle herself you know.” Nathan squared up.

What the hell? Is there some sort of script? How many more people will tell me that?

“Bitch, I didn’t ask you what you think.” I spat.

I don’t know why he’s getting brave, he got me once, but he was with his friends like the bitch he is.

When he’s on his ones though, it’s very different.

Miranda rolled her eyes.

I felt Nimah grip me tighter. I think she's trying to tell me not to get angry.

Too late.

This guy is trying to lay claims on my girl, this is the second time I’ve caught him around her.

I'm not a fool.

“Listen Nathan, stay away.”

“Chris, what you talking about?” Miranda questioned.

“Why are you even here?” I shot back at her.

She looked at me like I just threw a spear through her chest. Where did she get the impression that she has a chance? She surely didn’t get it from me.

“Miranda go! Nimah, wait in the car please.”

I pressed the button to open the car.

I went to go open her door.

“Christian, no fighting please.” Nimah kissed me on the cheek and went to the car.

I headed back over to the idiot.

“Why are you behind my woman Nathan?” The anger is seeping through my eyes.

“She was here with Miranda when I came.”

“It doesn’t matter, just leave her alone.” I sped past him; if I stay here any longer the temptation to finish what I started the night of my party will overcome me.

“When you leave mine.”

“What?” I turned around to him.

“Leave my chick alone, then I’ll leave yours.”

“No, you don’t have a choice.” I instructed.

My gaze lingered on him a few more tension filled moments before I resumed my walk to the car.

I felt a force grab my arm.

I doubt its Nathan, I hope its not Nathan for his sake.

I don’t think he’s that big.

I turned slowly, and like I had suspected Nathan’s grubby fat hand was on my arm.

“Do you want to move that?” I warned. “None of your bredrins are here, so don’t get brave.”

He sensed the willingness in my eyes and moved his hand.

I feel sorry for this guy, but he’s fighting with the wrong person. He’s angry with me because his woman doesn’t want him. How is that my issue? He should be mad at her.

I opened my car door and got in.

“Christian, I think you need to tell me what is going on.” She looks so concerned. Should I just tell her?

An overwhelming urge surged over me.

I grabbed hold of her waist and pulled her across the gear section on to my lap in one quick motion.

“Are you crack?”

She quickly wiped the scared and confused look off of her face.

I kissed her neck. I slipped my hand into the pocket on her jacket for her house key.

“Y-you cant get out of this.” She muttered. “You still got to answer me.” She lifted my head off her chest.

“I'm serious Christian.”

I sighed and looked straight into her eyes.

This girl makes me weak.

“Ok baby listen to this yeah, Nathan had me set up because Miranda is…”

“Hang on, set up? What you mean?”

“He had his bredrins beat me up.”

“Christian, what? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I didn’t want you to worry or anything.”

“But you still should have told me. Christian you got to promise you’ll tell me what's going on with you.”

She’s not asking for too much. I don’t want things to continue the way they’ve been going these weeks.

And I just want to kiss her, really.

“Ok babe, I promise.”

A smile lit up her face.

“Thanks babe.”

Her hands smoothed against my shoulders. I wrapped my arms around her waist and held her closer.

After our little smooching session slid back over into her seat and opened the door.

“Bye Chris, I got a couple more classes.”

“Ok well, call me when you’re through and I’ll come over.”

“Alright.”

She got out and I watched her walk around the building.

I smiled thinking how surprised she’s going to be later when she gets home.

I put the key in the ignition and drove off.

Ok, my plan will work because she drove to school. That way I wont have to pick her up and spoil it.

I headed down the motorway and turned off on the slip road to Nimah’s.

I'm glad we got this all worked out, even though I didn’t get to finish telling her the story. She must have been crazy vex with me. I'm just glad she didn’t flip out and start acting crazy, because I don’t know what I would have done.

I reached to her street and turned in.

I chuckled to myself as I pulled up alongside the pavement and turned off the car.

I stepped out and checked her key was still in my pocket.

I glanced up and saw movement on the stairs to her apartment.

I looked again, there was some dude walking up to her door.

Looks familiar to me.

Why is there some geezer standing by her door with some roses in his hand?
